Product Characteristics:

RTV-2 Silicone Molding Double Component Room Temperature Vulcanized Silicone Rubber is a two-component addition molding silicone material that can be cured at room temperature or at high temperature. This product consists of two components, A and B. Component A is a flowable liquid, while component B is a flowable liquid. After mixing component A and B, it can be quickly molded.

Product Features:

  1. RTV-2 Silicone Molding has a low shrinkage rate and does not release low molecules during the crosslinking process of the two components, so the volume remains unchanged and the shrinkage rate is less than 0.1%;
  2. RTV-2 Silicone Molding is not limited by the thickness of the product and can be deeply cured;
  3. RTV-2 Silicone Molding has excellent high temperature resistance, with temperatures reaching 300-500 degrees Celsius;
  4. RTV-2 Silicone Molding is food grade, non-toxic and odorless, and has passed FDA food grade certification;

Product Applications:

Two component room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber can be used for molding to cast epoxy resin, polyester resin, polystyrene, vinyl plastic, paraffin, large cement components, cultural stones, concrete, etc. It can also be used for precision mold manufacturing of metal crafts, alloy vehicles, food grade mold manufacturing, etc.

Product Use Instructions:

Mix components A and B in a 1:1 ratio by weight, and after vacuum defoaming, they can be poured. Operating time at room temperature (28 degrees) for 30 minutes, complete curing in 4-5 hours; Heating at 60-120 degrees Celsius can completely cure within a few minutes.

Notes for Operation:

  1. It is necessary to mix the two components at ratio 1:1 by weight;
  2. It is necessary to clean the original mold to be with no condensation type silicone remained;
  3. It is necessary to operate with unused room temperature silicone tools;
  4. Don’t mix it with liquid condensation cure silicone rubber (tin cure);
  5. Don’t mix it with organic matters that contains N/S/P organics or ionic compounds like Sn, As, Hg, Ph;
  6. Don’t add any pigment or powder into the Platinum cure silicone rubber without any pre‐

For sulfurization process:

The vulcanization process of RTV-1 gradually progresses from the surface to the deeper, and the thicker the adhesive layer, the slower the curing. Its vulcanization reaction depends on the moisture in the air, so the vulcanization rate is affected by environmental humidity and temperature.

RTV-2 is vulcanized both inside and outside, and its vulcanization reaction is not initiated by moisture in the air, but by a catalyst.

For sulfurization time:

The vulcanization time of RTV-1 depends on the vulcanization system, temperature, humidity, and thickness of the silicone rubber layer. Under typical environmental conditions, after 5-30 minutes, the surface of silicone rubber can be free of stickiness, and a 0.3 centimeter thick adhesive layer can cure within one day.

The vulcanization time of RTV-2 may vary due to factors such as the type and concentration of catalyst, but it can usually be completed in a shorter period of time

For adhesive and demolding properties:

RTV-1 has good adhesion to most substrates while RTV-2 has good demolding properties for most substrates, and its shrinkage rate is small, so it is widely used for making soft molds.

For application:

RTV-1 is suitable for applications that require a thickness of less than 6 millimeters, such as infusion and sealing of electronic and electrical components, moisture resistance and shock resistance of instruments and meters, due to its ease of use and ability to maintain elasticity over a wide temperature range (-60°C to 200°C).

Due to its superior properties such as low temperature resistance, heat resistance, radiation resistance, or solvent resistance, RTV-2 has a wider range of applications, such as sealing and sealing of supersonic aircraft fuel tanks, bonding and fixing of fluoro silicone rubber gaskets and washers.
